A choice Roman bronze figure of Herakles, c. 2nd - 3rd Century AD, depicted nude, holding a club overhead with his right hand, his left hand holding what presumably was a lion's skin, now lost. His hair is short and he wears a beard and moustache, his body is muscular and very naturalistically rendered. H: 4 7/8" (12.4 cm). A couple pits on the inside of the right leg and on top of the head. A very nice bronze! Ex Hollywood Collection.
