Phebe Ann Lindsley (Madisonville, Hamilton County Ohio, July 17, 1829-November 16, 1897) needlework sampler with alphabet, house, trees, birds and flowers. "Phebe Ann Lindsley was born July 17th. 18-- worked this sampler AD 1840". Partial stitching removed from the last two digits of the year of birth. Family legend states the maker removed these two digits from all her dated works in order to conceal her age. Good condition, sampler 18" h x 15" w.
