Description
A rare style of Buddhist begging bowl with hundreds of raised bosses from pecking on the inside scattered throughout. The gold-splashes are easily seen on the outside, somewhate muted through use on the inside, and the bowl likely has 8 or more metals in its composition. Though obviously used by a high-ranking Lama, the sound is wonderful when struck and the condition remarkable with perfect patina. Circa 1800-1850, carefully handmade, and VERY Rare. See the similar type of bowl shown in a photo here from a Tibetan Thangka. This style must have been a specialty for a high Lama in a single sect, as I have never seen another gold-splashed example with raised bosses to this date.
