**This item will not be shipped Internationally** (pair) Japanese tinted ivory carvings, Jo and Uba (Tale of Takasago), 20h c., signed Masayuki, figures: 3"h, on base: 4.25"h, .25lb total**Provenance: From the private collection of a Colonel (ret.) in the United States Army. The Col. acquired a taste for Oriental art while stationed in Post-WWII Japan. He lived with a Japanese family during that assignment and grew to understand the culture. Through the years, his travels to Asia (including a one-year tour of duty in the Republic of Vietnam in the late 1960's) furthered his appreciation for the orient. The Col. and his Mrs. travelled to Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, South Korea, Thailand, Malaysia, Japan, India, Nepal and other places in the East. Collecting jade and ivory carvings, wood carvings and other art became a life-long hobby. This collection was primarily purchased in the 1970's and has been displayed and enjoyed for years.** Start Price: $50.00
