Description

American Revolution
Superb “Sun Face” Design Pewter Colonial Coat Button
c. 1780 Colonial to Revolutionary War Era Coat Button. Pewter. Sun Face Design. With Partial Shank. Choice Extremely Fine.
24mm. This exciting Colonial Coat Button is of a superb, very unique and impressive design! We are immediately reminded of the Paul Revere Engraved “Rising Sun” Revolutionary War Period Colonial Currency issue due to obvious similarities in design. This is a rather thick and heavy, well made Pewter Button, with most of the reverse shank portions, lacking only the loop. The detail of the face is extraordinary and simply fabulous in its “Folk Art” design. It is very clean and sharp in details with only slight wear to the highest points. Very rare, as we have not seen or ever offered another.
