SOAP HOLLOW CHILD'S DESK. Possibly unique. Pine and poplar. Removable slant lid top sits on a five drawer base with tapered legs and beveled edge panels. Original red paint with yellow trim, black on the side panels, molded trim and feet and dark stenciled designs on the drawer fronts, top front panel and sides. Both sides are marked "JL 1870". Stylistically similar to work by John K. Livingston (1842 - 1917). Some wear and edge damage including a loose piece of molding, damaged lock, two puttied corners in the top and two missing inlaid escutcheons. 20 1/2"w. 15"d. 33"h.
