A Victorian giltwood and gilt composition mirror, by C. Nosotti, c.1870, the oval plate within a beaded and berried laurel inner frame, the border plates applied with entwined foliage and four Sevres style porcelain plaques depicting young couples the ribbon-twist and stiff-leaf frame surmounted by a ribbon tied foliate patera issuing scrolling acanthus, with conforming apron, label to reverse 'C. Nosotti / Carver & gilder / Upholsterer & Cabinet Maker / 398 & 399 Oxford St' beneath the Royal coat-of-arms, three plaques cracked 62.75'' (159cms) x 33'' (84cms) Note: The firm of C. Nosotti was established in 1822. Francis Nosotti looking glass and picture frame maker is listed in 1829 at 298 Oxford St while Andrea Charles Nosotti is listed at 2, Dean St., Soho, 1835-40, trading as carver gilder, upholsterer and cabinet maker
