Great C. 1860 Oval Albumen Portrait Of The Officer's And NCOs Of A New York State Militia Unit. Likely a unit that eventually became part of the Excelsior Brigade as they wear the M1860 French shako with the unique American front plate. Five company grade officers and two NCOs. Gray uniforms, the officers in frock coats, the NCOs in shell jackets. Three of the officers with M1850 foot officers' swords while the officer in the center has a brass scabbard militia staff sword. Both NCOs with plumed helmet pommel militia NCO swords. Image is 11 3/4" X 14". Superb quality and extremely fine condition. The original mount is 13 1/2" X 17". Great image.
