Painting: Jozsef Heicke, "Austro-Hungarian Hussar", c. 1861, watercolor and gouache on paper, 7.75" x 5" (sight size), attractively framed with a French matte to an overall size of 12" x 9.25". The painting is signed and dated in the lower right corner, "J. Heicke" and "1861".

Jozsef Heicke (1811-1861) an Austrian painter and lithographer, he produced landscapes, portraits, natural history watercolors, and images of historic events. He studied at the Vienna Academy and traveled in the Middle East, Italy, and Hungary.
