Description

Colt Breech Loading Pocket Revolver, Circa 1870. Serial no. 44050, .38 caliber centerfire, 3 5/8-inch round barrel with two line Hartford address. Nickel-plated finish. 5-shot cylinder with stagecoach holdup scene. All matching serial numbers including arbor and loading gate. Unmarked wedge. Two-line patent date. Mother-of-pearl grips. According to Variations of Colt's New Model Police and Breech Loading Pistols  by John Breslin, William Pirie, and David Price, this is a Type 7 "conversion" and was originally manufactured to fire metallic cartridges.

Condition: Good. Retaining approximately 20-30% nickel finish the balance a gray-brown patina. Scattered nicks and flaking throughout. Front sight has been altered or replaced and barrel has been shortened. Ejector rod tip absent. Some screws replaced. Main spring likely a replacement. Grips a later addition.
