Description
Serial #4549, in the correct range for Custer battlefield relic revolver. U.S. martially marked, Ainsworth inspected. John A. Kopec letter of authenticity stating the documented serial range and stating it is only four numbers away from the noted revolver found in the Indian village near the Little Big Horn. Mr. Kopec further states “There is no indication of fakery found on this example. So few revolvers found tody remain in “untouched” condition, and it is refreshing for me to examine this important “Custer era” example.”
Relic condition with shortened 5” barrel, repositioned front sight, heavy pitting, and replaced screws. The gun appears to be as reported, a battlefield find, the markings are clearly visible on the frame with clear “A” on trigger guard. The one-piece walnut grips may be later replacements. A true and honest Ainsworth - Custer revolver.
