Albumen, 5.5 x 8.25 in. on 8 x 10 in. rigid mount, no photographer’s imprint. A most unusual photograph replete with character featuring an unrecognized staff grade cavalry officer seated on a saddle mounted on a barrel. The image is memorable, likely unpublished, but lacking written context. The serious demeanor of the rider coupled with the deliberate layout of the kit suggests that the photograph was perhaps intended as a technical view of improved horse furniture rather than some long lost humorous parody.

Albumen is sepia toned, EXC. Mount now brown with slight foxing and rounded corners.
