Vrangel Idyot! K oruzhiyu, proletarii! [Wrangel is Coming! To Arms, Proletarians!], a poster by Nikolai Kochergin (1897-1974, Meritorious Artist of the Russian Federation). Published by GIZ, Moscow, 1920, 71.5 x 53.5 cm.
This poster was prompted by Trotskys speech in mid-August of 1920, in which he noted that Wrangels advance out of the Crimea was starting to threaten the strategic Donetsk Basin, and should not be neglected anymore. A cavalry mobilization was announced, and additional forces were sent to the Southern Front to stabilize the situation until the Polish campaign ran its course.
According to Stephen White, the poster had an unheard-of printing of 75,000 copies. For additional information about the artist, see the previous lot.
