Joseph Shuster (american, 1914-1992) And Jerome
Science Fiction. The Advance Guard of Future Civilization. Four issues [Cleveland: 1932-1933]. First editions. Coverless copy of #3, two copies of #4, and #5. Issue number three inscribed and signed by Jerome Siegel at the top of the first page. This groundbreaking issue contains the legendary Siegel & Shuster story, "The Reign of the Superman," with Shuster's first drawing of Superman, published five years before the Cleveland duo unveiled their more famous incarnation of the name in Action Comics #1. Further, issue #4 contains the first printed image of King Kong, and issue #5 features bios and pictures of Siegel and Shuster. Fairly toned and somewhat brittle copies, to be expected of 80 year-old acidic paper. Some paper loss around some staples. A very nice group, extremely rare in any condition.
