Still life in the artist’s studio, with a marble bust of a cherub on a shelf, surrounded by metal trays and other drinking vessels.
Oil on canvas. Signed and dated 1883. 26 x 18ins.
Note: Kenneth McConkey “Feels the painting dates from around 1878 and is a sort of test piece still life which an artist would be expected to paint at the National Art Training School, one of the plates is very similar to one which appears in another still life of the late ‘70’s and there are various drawings of plaster frieze decorations similar to that in the paintings”.
