26 by 34 inch portrait on slate with a metal frame of Brigadier General Robert V. Ignico, wearing Blimp Pilot wings and additional decorations. Ignico was born in Boston Mass. In 1895, he attended Washington & Lee University for 3 years, and enlisted in USMC from May until September 1917, after which he enlisted in the Aviation Section of the Signal Reserve, beginning a career that leading up to becoming a Brigadier General in 1942. He retired in June, 1952, having received decorations such as two Legions of Merit, Air Medal, and Commendation Ribbon, and died on November 15, 1982. Portrait is signed Signed Gus Roos, 1945. Some research and documentation of Ignico's career, as well as an original photo accompany the portrait. Very good condition.
