“Texas Autumn” Oil on canvas laid down on board. Signed lower left: Harvey B. Coleman (1884 – 1959). An American original, Coleman, a listed artist, born in New York, was a self-taught landscape painter who demonstrated his own unique Masterful style. Moving from Chicago, to Fort Worth, Texas then to California in 1927, Coleman’s work was exhibited in the Texas Artists Exhibition in the 1920s and the California State Fair in 1930. This fine piece, painted in the Fort Worth area, captures the feeling and light of the moment, as well as Nature’s wisdom. Circa 1920. Dimensions: 26” X 22” with frame, 20” X 16” without. Strong demand for Coleman’s work is confirmed by latest the verified wholesale dealer auction sale: $8,050 sale price for “To the Campground” lot # 273 at David Dike Fine Art, in Dallas Texas on October 18, 2008.
