Georges Carette & Cie Original Boxed Steam Train Set. Set produced in Nuremberg, Germany, circa 1893. Alcohol fired brass steam boiler with single piston drive locomotive having 0-4-0 brass wheels and green painted tin cab, 5 3/4"h. X 7 1/2"l. Also included: Green tin tender car, 3 1/4"h. X 3 5/8"l.; Brown passenger car with blue roof, 4 1/4"h. X 5 1/8"l.; Blue open ore car, 3 1/8"h. X 4 1/4"l.; Green passenger car with black roof, 4 1/2"h. X 5 1/4"l.; twelve pieces of curved tin plated sheet steel track, 14 1/2"l. each; small assortment of extras: four sections of cotton wick, tiny tin cup and funnel and a small brass wrench. All cars are detailed with red pin stripping and have green painted wheels. All contained in original wood box with color lithographic label, 4 3/4"h. X 17 3/4"w. X 12 1/2"d.
Condition: Paint loss and use wear throughout. All pieces appear complete and structurally sound, except a poor repair to one wheel on brown passenger car. Condition of boiler unknown.
