883 WALLIS BARNES: (1887-1979) English Scientist & Inventor of the bouncing bomb used in Operation Chastise (The Dambusters Raid), 16th May 1943. Signed 6.5 x 7 photograph of Wallis standing in a three quarter length pose in his study with a model of an aircraft on the desk before him. Signed with his name alone in blue ink at the base of the image with only fair contrast. Some slight surface creasing at the the base of the photograph, just touching a couple of letters of the signature. About VG
