A Chinese Famille Rose alcove Vase and cover, Yongzheng, of octagonal section and baluster form, the domed cover with seated buddhistic lion finial, painted and gilt with elongated lappet-shaped panels of exotic birds and insects among flowering peony, chrysanthemum, prunus and other stylized flowers, the moulded borders with bands of further chrysanthemum within bamboo moulded panels, on a black ground painted with further flowers between moulded petal borders, the neck with panels of precious objects and figures in landscape reserved against a cell-pattern ground, the finial enriched in colours but unglazed, on a giltwood stand . 54" (137cms).
