A Turinese pale blue-painted and parcel-gilt Centre Table, mid-18th Century, the eared rectangular top with moulded foliate edge and mounts set with a later pink marble, with strapwork carved frieze and the aprons carved with elaborate acanthus and scrolls centred by a Diana mask issuing foliage, on square tapering legs headed by square capitals carved with leaves and joined by a panelled X-shaped stretcher centred by an urn and with scroll carving, restorations and redecorated, the apron decoration on three sides of a later date, 34 ¼" h x 63" w x 31 ½" (87cms x 160cms x 80cms). (1). Note: The form for this table is inspired by French designs for tables by Lepautre, circa 1685.
