We are very pleased to offer this GORGEOUS & HEAVY set of STERLING SILVER Candle Stick holders and MAMMOTH STERLING SILVER PEDESTAL SERVING BOWL BY HM SILVER COMPANY (MY INFORMATION IS THAT HM LATER MERGED WITH GORHAM SILVER). The large serving bowl is adorned with Medallions depicting a goddess or young woman in flowing garments. All three pieces have the same base design with tableaus of figures and trees, and the bottom of one of the candle sticks is inscribed ‘CONSULTING THE ORACLE’, no doubt referring to the scene depicted on all three pieces (there is also an 1884 painting by classical Realist Painting Master J.W. Waterhouse of the same name) All three pieces are signed and marked HM /S STERLING / 925 – 1000 / 450K. Excellent. Very light surface scratches with only one tiny ding found on the bowl. There are some deep scratches found in the interior of the bowl and one very small ding to the exterior of the bowl. All three pieces have been marked SCHANDT with what appears to be hand engraving. On the larger bowl, the SCHANDT has been attempted to be taken out.
