Two Post Civil War Mess Tools. Two proported "Amputee Knife/Fork Combi nation mess utensil. As there were thousands of amputees after the war this utensil combined a curved knife blade with a three or four tine fork so the function of feeding one's self with one hand could be accomplished. These two pieces have steel blades with carved ebony wood handles. One marked, but incomplete. 8 1/2"l. and 9 3/4"l. Condition: Good with use and age wear.
