Chivers Vellucent Binding.- Tennyson,

(Lord Alfred) The Works..., engraved frontispiece portrait, slight browning to prelim edges otherwise very bright internally, bound in vellum over painted paper by Cedric Chivers of Bath, upper cover titled 'King Arthur Pendragon', full length profile of the King, clutching a sword against a background of stylised branches of flowers, dragon emblem above, the lower cover similarly painted, entitled 'Guinevere His Queen', the Queen kneeling, her hands resting on a book of hours, all within double gilt borders, spine with gilt title panel with vertical branch of various flowers below, g.e., signed on rear turn-in, slight darkening to vellum but still a stunning binding, slip-case, 8vo, 1900.
