A SUPERB 17TH CENTURY CHINESE BLUE AND WHITE CIRCULAR CHARGER Kangxi mark and period, painted to the centre with a bold central dragon amongst crashing waves, the border formed with four dragons in pursuit. Very minor fritting, otherwise excellent condition.20.5ins diameter.
Provenance: Insured 1903 for £21, the charger has been hanging in the drawing room of the current vendor, daughter to Reverend Francis & Mary Weston Waite, reputedly purchased at a Country House auction in East Anglia, C1950. Reverend Francis came back from India in 1947, the bowl was inherited by the current vendor in 1983.
