46023: A Judy Garland Fascinating Diary, Circa 1967.
A Judy Garland Fascinating Diary, Circa 1967. A small lined notepad filled with nine pages of notes handwritten in blue ballpoint ink by Garland; entries cover a wide range of topics that the star was disturbed by or simple 'notes to self' such as (and this is just a small sampling): On Page 1) "Pills / who has control / 16 per day, green capsules / 4 seconals per/ night;" On Page 2) "Sid / is an officer in / Group Five / Sid and Ray set / it up so that both / can sign checks and / contracts for putting / me to work without / consulting me, nor getting my consent, nor letting me see contracts / for my engagements! / I am not an / officer of Group 5 / but from now on / this will change!" On Page 3) "I'm sold for my / singing ability;" On Page 4) "I will handle / my own medication;" On Page 5) "I was promised / Mame! What happened?" On Page 6) "Get medicine right / away;" On Page 7) "Find out about Baltimore / concert with Bennett;" On Page 8) "Demand the / return of CBS tapes / to me the owner / because I alone am King's Row Enterprises;" On Page 9) "Due to their completely / inept and hopeless / legal mess that my / employers have ensnared / me, I find that I have / been left no choice but / to announce that I / have been literally / stopped from singing / for you on Fri.;" plus many other alarming notes throughout; overall, a compelling, though sad, look into the troubled life of a great talent.
