Description
Confessions of a Nazi Spy (Warner Brothers, 1939). Special Title Lobby Card Set of 8 (11" X 14").
Billing itself as a documentary drama, this was the first anti-Nazi movie made in pre-WWII Hollywood. The film created a stir worldwide, despite the fact that it was banned in Germany, Japan and several Latin American countries. Adolf Hitler, who appears in archival footage in the picture, allegedly planned on executing the filmmakers after the war. This lobby set, printed on linen stock, is very rare as it is an alternate set printed to look like eight individual title cards, each as a separate piece of war propaganda. Warners released a regular set from this film with scene cards also found in this auction, though more common. The cards each have their imperfections but each is intact and in nice condition despite some pinholes and other small imperfections. Fine/Very Fine.
