Description
Around the World in 80 Minutes (United Artists, 1931). Austrian Poster (49" X 110").
An early example of a "vanity" production, this feature-length documentary is comprised of glorified home movies taken by film star Douglas Fairbanks Sr. during a trip to the Orient with several friends including director Victor Fleming. One of the major attributes of this film was co-star Duke Kahanamoku, the father of modern surfing, who appears in the film as himself. The globe-trotting Douglas Fairbanks is larger than life on this color-rich, large format Austrian poster with artwork by Margit Kovats. The poster has been mounted on linen, but no further restoration has been completed. Minor signs of handling can be detected, such as small tears and fold wear with paper loss. A very rare opportunity for Fairbanks collectors! Fine+ on Linen.
