Description
Robert Crumb Hand-Lettered Note to Marty Pahls (1961). Robert's twelve-page note to his best friend Marty, discussing Crumb's art classes (he was fond of his sculpting class); old records; an unfinished Jim and Mabel "Treasure Island" book that Robert and Charles had been working on (two hundred pages, two panels per page); Robert's self-published Arcade comic and other fanzines; Marty's novel; a scout from the Famous Artist's school, who was not impressed with the Crumb brothers' work; personal stuff, and more. He includes a sketch of the Crumb family cat, Fred, which would be the inspiration for Fritz. The entire note is composed on folded letter paper in a booklet form, in graphite, and is in Very Good condition. The original "Note" cover is not included with this lot, although we have provided an black and white photocopy.
