Suite of Seven George III-Style Mahogany Dining Chairs, consisting of two armchairs and five sidechairs, all with a domed and earred crest above a pierced and foliate-carved splat, the padded seat raised on cabriole legs headed by acanthine carving and ending in ball-and-claw feet, h. 39-1/2".
Handsome lot. Arms: One armrest needs tightening. The other example with a crack at both corners of the front seat rail and a loss to both scroll ends at the knee. Sides: One example with a restoration at the top rail and a scuffed loss to rear scroll at one front knee, another with these scuffed losses to both rear edges and another with a restored break at the seat rail along with a crack where one rear stile joins the rear seat rail. ***There is a seventh sidechair (not pictured) with losses to the scroll ends at both front knees, as well as an eighth available but lacking one front leg. Seats are drop-in.
