Description

Interesting firing marks on one side where the crock stuck to something inside the kiln, single blue band around the outer edge of the largest portion of the 5 gallon churn, handle and smaller grip are both in good condition, minor nicks around the top edge, 1870-1900, no doubt, Southern, just a question of where? There is an incised script 5 on the side and a cobalt blue band going around the top, 5 firing either flaws or sticking to something else in the kiln, and an almost crystalline glaze in a brown shaded to gray at the bottom. 17 1/2" tall by 10" wide.
