signature to read Song Wenzhi. H: 13 in. (33cm) x W: 9 5/8 in. (24.5cm) Song Wenzhi (1919-1999) was born in Taicang, Jiangsu Province. He was a famous painter in China. He studied advertising art in Shanghai when he was young. After having studied at the Suzhou Art Training Institute, he taught at secondary schools and normal universities. He joined the Jiangsu Province Traditional Chinese Painting Studio in 1957. Song had been a student of master painter Zhang Shiyuan and Wu Hufan. He was specialized in landscape paintings.
