FARCIS, Jacques (Actif XIXe-XXe siècle)
Sketchbook comprised of drawings and watercolors executed by Jacques Farcis in 1894; handwritten inscription on the reverse of the first cover: “Jacqques Farcis – 1894 – Le Havre”. It is comprised of 25 drawings and 4 watercolors depicting many places such as, inter alia, le Havre, Dahomey, Loches and Saint-Jean-Aux-Bois. Some of them bear a monogram: JF.
We include a set of three sketchbooks by the same artist and signed with a monogram AF:
The cover of the first one is titled: “A.F. 1895. 1897. Pierrefonds, Vittel & Lac des 4 Cantons” comprised of 47 drawings and 13 watercolors;
The cover of the second one is titled: “A.F. 1895. 1897. Pierrefonds, Vittle & Lac des 4 Cantons” comprised of 41 drawings and 10 watercolors;
The cover of the last on is titled: “A.F. 1898.” and comprised of 28 drawings and 12 watercolors.
Also included is an anonymous notebook comprised of 28 sketches executed in August 1898.
