Description

John Quincy Adams (6th US President, 1825 - 1829), then Secretary of State, signed letter dated 22 March 1821 addressed to Jeremiah Sprague, Deputy Marshall of Boston, MA regarding the appointment of Col. Samuel D. Harris as Marshal of the United States and Massachusetts. The letter contains the broken seal. The framed letter is signed " I am, with much Respect, your obedient and very humble servant, John Quincy Adams". Other than folds and the original tearing of the wax seal, the document is in very good condition. The framed engraving is engraved from a picture by G. P. A. Healy ; by R.E. Babdon and J. Andrews. Despite some foxing, the print is in very good condition.
