An early 20th century 14k gold keyless wind open face pocket watch by Hamilton, retailed by A. N. Anderson, the double sunk white enamel dial with black Arabic numeral hour markers, subsidiary seconds dial to six o'clock, all surrounded by an outer minute track with Arabic divisions, the plain case, stamped 14k, numbered 6428506, with an older version of the Norwegian coat of arms engraved to the rear, fitted with a signed twenty-three jewel 947 extra movement, numbered 239026. Case diameter 58mm. Total weight 191gms.The twenty-three jewel grade 947 was an exceptional high-grade offering from Hamilton's stable. The grade 947 was created from grade 943s, re-worked by Hamilton. Very few 947s were created, records indicate only 308 were produced between 1910 and 1916, even fewer were marked "Extra"; perhaps as low as between ten and twenty examples. This rare piece is offered with an A. N. Anderson double sunk dial, in a 14k case bearing the Norwegian coat of arms.
