A SUPERB RARE DAMASK SILK & BROCADE APPLIQUE, Central Tibet, Late 19th Century. Depicting the disembodied face of the mythical creature of the skies, Chibar or Kirtimukha(Sanskrit). Used as a decoration for pillar canopies in the great halls of temples and monasteries. 56.25cm x 57.5cm. Framed 77.5cm x 80cm.
