The Hand Gonne or handgonne was an iron 14-15th century medieval firearm. This example is similar to examples in Hand Gonne History from 'Firearms in Colonial History' by M. L. Brown with additional examples from the Winchester Gun Museum, New Haven, Connecticut. An example of the earliest portable firearm. The gonne was most often mounted at the end of a long stave in place of a pole arm and braced in the ground, though smaller versions could be fired from horseback. Condition: Excellent, some rust in barrel.
