Title: Antique wooden ballot box, for election of golf club members

Description: Rectangular wooden structure with two compartments accessed through opening at front, through which balls, either black (no) or white (yes) could be dropped, with drawers at bottom to be pulled out for counting. "Y" and "N" are painted at the appropriate sides of the opening. Drawers with brass knobs. 9½" tall by 7½" wide by 12" deep. With brass handle on backside.Ballot box for a golf club, in which votes for membership were cast, with those rejected being "blackballed." Likely late 19th or early 20th century, the club is unknown.
