Description
AN EARLY SILVER DAMASCENED IRON BOWL CASE WITH COVER, Tibet, 17th/18th Century. Decorated with gilded damascened silver "Shou" character on the top and bottom of the case and 3 around the sides along with 3 finely done butterfly motifs. The bowl case would be used by a high ranking Lama or an official to hold the delicate porcelain bowls wrapped in silk or traditional Tibetan burl-wood bowls. H.8cm, W.15.5cm.
