RARE ANTIQUE RHINOCEROS HORN LIBATION CUP
Well-polished, antique Chinese rhinoceros horn libation cup; with inscriptions to both sides: front inscription reading Yizui Jitiandi [Intoxicated (with wine) for prayer to heaven and earth], and with gilt poetic inscription to verso, reading:
Wenrun Ruyu
Linglong Hanguang
Zhuoci Xigong
Wanshou Wujiang; loosely translated as:
[(The material is) as mild as nephrite jade;
(The shape is) exquisite (and the surface is) smooth and shiny;
Use this cup for tasting wine,
(may your) longevity without an end.]
