A Grand Tour Attic-style amphora with pedestal base, the mammiform body depicting a draped female, seated, turning towards her right, a fan in her left hand, flanked by palmettes, and two young males, standing, both wearing the chlamys and fillets, one holding a staff; to the shoulder, a scroll-and-dot pattern; to the neck, palmettes and a radiating line pattern; two slender handles; large, everted rim. Ceramic, 900 grams, 37 cm (14 1/2"). Aston Collection; Hampshire, UK; bought Riddetts, Bournemouth, circa 1982.
