Made in Egypt during the Roman era, ca. 3rd - 4th century AD. Mold-made, kidney-shaped terracotta lamp with inward sloping rim and short tapered nozzle. On shoulder, a high relief of two palm branches, connected by a short bowed string. On base, deep maker's mark impression. Like vine fronds, frogs symbolized rebirth and resurrection, hence their use on Christian lamps. 3-1/4"L.
