FRENCH AUTOMATON "PIERROT SERENADING THE MOON" - Late 19th Century, possibly by Roullet & Decamps. When music plays, the clown strums the mandolin w/ right hand, moves head up and down and side to side, sticks tongue out at the "Man in the Moon" who moves lower jaw up and down and "winks" glass eye. Bisque hands in wonderful condition, clothing original but frail. Some paint restoration to papier-mache head & moon. Mechanism and music strong. 20" (51cm) to top of moon. (Good Cond) $12000-$17000
