48:south Italic Messapian Bi-Chrome Kantharos Published
Ca. 425 B.C. Terracotta twin-handled vessel with cream colour slip; decorated with brick-red geometric bands surrounding the body, handle and inside rim. Down turned rays on the outside rim and belly; all in classic Messapic style. Elegant high bellied body with wide rim and flaring foot. Part of a 209 piece collection of ancient pottery featured in the book, "The Farwell Collection" published in 1953 by Franklin P. Johnson, University of Chicago art historian and archaeologist.
