Ca. 425 B.C. Terracotta twin-handled vessel with cream colour slip; decorated with brick-red geometric bands surrounding the body, handle and inside rim. Down turned rays on the outside rim and belly; all in classic Messapic style. Elegant high bellied body with wide rim and flaring foot. Part of a 209 piece collection of ancient pottery featured in the book, "The Farwell Collection" published in 1953 by Franklin P. Johnson, University of Chicago art historian and archaeologist. Found in Fig. 18. 5-1/2"H.
