William Cothren's personal bound collection of Civil War era sheet music, comprising 102 pieces of music for piano and voice, including an extremely scarce copy of the Stephen Foster's work "Maggie by My Side" together with other patriotic songs of the era, many with pictorial covers and signed, total of 300 pages, together with a hand written index. Signed W. Cothren and dated 1864, first blank; stiff paper boards with leather spine and ownership label, also dated 1864. Wear and losses to boards, the binding split and detached from the block. The contents with foxing, stains, and tears. Very rare. 14" high, 11 1/4" wide, 3" deep.
