1840s Era American Eagle Infantry Officer's Sword, 31-3/4'' rapier-style blue blade with light engraving and some gold wash, eaglehead pommel, bone grip, single quillion guard with chain bow; the langet has American eagle on both sides. Probably imported from Germany. In plain brass two-ring scabbard with finial drag. Condition is good to very good retaining approx. 30% thinning and toning blue. Clear traces of gold remain. Light crazing to bone grip, and it appears that the plain knuckle bow has at one point been switched out for chain. Hilt remains somewhat lose; handle should be tightened. Scabbard shows light nicks and scuffs.
