Sioux (Bird) Knife, by John Nelson Cooper (1906-1987), 3-3/4'' clip-point blade, 7'' overall, chocolate brown quilted micarta handle with triple brass accents, brass round pommel, and brass halfguard. Left side of blade at ricasso marked with Cooper eagle. In original multi-pieced brown leather sheath. Original receipt, dated August 1974, is included from Cooper Knives, Burbank, CA, for shipment marked ''will advise''. John Nelson Cooper mfg'd custom handmade knives from 1924 to late 1981 and used a patented stock removal method. He is known as the longest continuous maker of custom made knives in the U.S. Cooper knives are highly prized and seldom offered for sale. Condition is excellent with just the slightest mellowing to brass accents and minor darkening from age to leather sheath, with some additional light scuffs.
