probably Continental, early 19th century, carved crest depicting a knight on rearing horse, rocky plinth, base drop is a finely articulated spread-wing dragon with open mouth, 52 x 30 in., good condition overall with scattered surface wear and losses especially to crest ornament, some silvering distress, mirror plate possibly original (not removed), horse and rider possibly with later gilding (traces of blue and red pigment are apparent) Provenance: Property Deaccessioned from the Chrysler Museum of Art
