![]() †Cream Lee Conklin original artwork BG109, 1968 This is the original artwork for the famous poster known as BG 109, one of the rarest posters in the Bill Graham Fillmore series. For the return of Cream to San Francisco's Fillmore Auditorium and Winterland Arena, Bill Graham House artist Lee Conklin created this mind blowing image to advertise a weekend of shows - February 28th to March 3rd. Appearing with Conga player Big Black and SF locals the Loading Zone, Cream performed extended improvisation-heavy sets, concluding every show with the majestic Sunshine of Your Love - re-affirming their 'Supergroup' status night after night. Conklin's artwork is amongst the most LSD influenced and deeply psychedelic in the whole BG series and this one is definitely no exception; numerous organic shapes combined with various human appendages and other non-linear elements are intertwined with and fused to the typography to create a truly unique and incomparable piece. Excellently detailed, hand rendered portraits of Eric, Ginger and Jack compliment the image, one of the most famous and striking images in the entire Fillmore / Bill Graham series. Pen and ink on art board, beautifully framed in solid oak. Overall measurements approx. 22 x 29 inch. (56 x 74 cm) The symbols used throughout this sales’ lot descriptions are explained as follows: † – U.K. VAT at 17.5% due on both sale price and commission. * – U.K. Import Tax at 5% due on both sale price and commission ‡ – Lot held outside of the E.C..
