DECORATED SOAP HOLLOW SIX-DRAWER CHEST. Poplar with the original black over red grained decoration and yellow line borders around the drawers. Gold stenciling includes the initials "J. W." and "1850" with vases of tulips and roses on the black side panels. Vining on the lower pilasters and stars on the apron. Well-turned feet and the top have an old black paint. Dovetailed drawers with beaded edges and turned wooden pulls. One top drawer retains a wooden spring lock below and the other drawer lock is missing. One pull is replaced and the back splash is missing. Unusual small size. Case is 36 3/4"w. Top, 38"w. 20 1/2"d. Overall 46"h.
